Blog Post #24 - Editing Research
To end my research phase of my project, I wanted to focus on the final step of finishing my documentary project, editing. This is how I will put all of the puzzle pieces together from each shot and frame to every last sound incorporated into the documentary. This will take a lot of time and effort to perfect every last detail before final submission of my project.
To edit my clips together, I will use the editing platform CapCut to line them up, cut them, and transition them in order to put the film together. This is the perfect platform because of the tools it offers. Some examples of this are the transitions, the cropping, and the alignment tools which make it as simple and easy as possible to edit while still getting my goal results.
To edit the auditory portion of my project, I will also be using CapCut. This is again because of the tools it offers. It allows me to play with the volume of each clip, making it louder or quieter to suit the scene, and even mute background noise, keeping the voice of the subject. This will be useful in my interviews as it will allow me to keep the sound quality high and not allow for any obstructing background noise.
Overall, CapCut, with its tools, will be the best option for the editing phase of my project. It will make an extremely long and complicated process as simple as it can be. I need to allow myself 2 weeks from the completion of filming to spend on just the editing phase so I can retake clips and put everything together without creating a rushed result.
