Blog Post #38 - Interviewee Selection
Since interviews are so important to my documentary as they are the staple of my content, I had to choose my interviewees very carefully. To find them, as shown in my recent social media update, I used an Instagram to raise interest in the film and gain options for my interviewees to have the ability to select the best ones. I had a total of 7 individuals message me and respond to the post, wanting to be a part of my documentary. I ended up selecting 3 girls that will each account for about a minute of more of my documentary a piece for their interview.
The next selection I made was Jewliana 'Jewls' Lopez. She is 15 years old as a setter on the Elevate 16 Rose team. Being a setter is arguably one of the most difficult positions with the rest of the teams reliance on them to run the offensive side of the game. Because of this, she was a great selection to show the pressure of others as a player coming from teammates and coaches while also having fun while playing.
The last girl I chose was Neaya Richardson. She is also 16 years old on the Elevate 16 Team but plays as an outside hitter and defensive specialist. By being multiple positions that both remain offensive and defensive, she is also good representation of a well-rounded player, therefore encouraging the goal themes and ideals I am attempting to include in my documentary with the goal of showing different perspectives. Her volleyball experience will be greatly descriptive as she has been playing for many years in many different places.
