Blog Post #55 - Organizing Scenes
When working on my editing process, I realized I needed to plan out the arrangement of my scenes and not just through everything into CapCut. If I did not do this, the scenes would have no organization and it would take days to get everything set. So, I decided to organize the content in a flow chart with ideal time stamps that would fit my time constraints and ensure all of my necessary content is in the final product.
First, I wanted to determine the distribution of content. I filmed primarily interview and playing content so I need to make sure I have appropriate amounts of both. Interviews will take majority of course, as they cover both the visual and auditory content. Also, I filmed interviews for 4 interviewees, with 2 of them taking primary and having the most time as they had much to say and the other two having a much more secondary role.
So, to do this planning, I used my notes app to put together my planning for the content and listed out each phase of the documentary I intended on distributing. I tried to keep it even until I realized the documentary would've ended up too entertainment and not at all fulfilling its purpose of being informative in any way. Therefore, I had to rearrange many thing while keeping in mind the amount of film I had prepared so I did not over extend my timing.
Last, I ended up adding which interview question I wanted to be and in between which parts. By using this list, I can cut and organize clips with ease, having an orderly idea of how I prefer them to be set up. This will help me save time and still produce creative content but in ways that make sense systematically.
